Meet the founder

Didem brennan

Growing up between cultures, Didem developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, hospitality and the rich textile traditions of the Mediterranean.

Through years of travelling between Australia and Türkiye, she discovered family-run workshops, artisan makers and weaving communities whose skills had been passed down through generations.

Inspired by these experiences, Didem founded Patara Life to share the beauty of artisan craftsmanship with Australian customers seeking authentic, thoughtfully made pieces for modern living.

Today, Patara Life reflects her passion for heritage, design and supporting artisan communities while bringing a touch of Mediterranean living into homes across Australia.

PRESERVING TRADITIONS. SUPPORTING GENERATIONS.

Many of our signature textiles are handcrafted in Buldan, a historic weaving region in Türkiye where the art of loom weaving has been passed down through generations.

We work directly with skilled artisans and family-run workshops who continue to weave, finish and create textiles using techniques refined over centuries. These makers are not only preserving a craft — they are preserving a way of life.

From handloomed Turkish cotton towels to thoughtfully crafted home and lifestyle pieces, every collection reflects a commitment to quality, authenticity and enduring design.

How a Beach in Türkiye Became the Name of a Melbourne Brand

"Patara"

Patara Life takes its name from Patara Beach on Türkiye's Mediterranean coast — the country's longest beach and one of its most significant protected natural environments. Stretching for kilometres along the Turquoise Coast, Patara is home to ancient ruins, unspoilt landscapes and an important nesting habitat for the endangered loggerhead turtle.

For Didem, Patara represents a rare balance between heritage and nature — a place where history, craftsmanship and ecological stewardship exist side by side. It embodies many of the values that continue to guide the brand today: respect for tradition, connection to place and a more thoughtful way of living.
